The meaning of the word yoga in Sanskrit is union. With practicing yoga we try to create a union of our mental, spiritual and physical body.
So except from just practicing the asanas (postures) I like to provide classes that also include other elements of yoga, for example breathing exercises, concentration- and balancing exercises and meditation. Because I strongly believe that the real essence and power of yoga relies in a combination of mental and physical exercises. Besides that I would love to encourage people to not only practice yoga on the mat, but to take yoga off the mat as well.
It has been scientifically proven that practicing yoga has a lot of benefits, mentally as well as physically. Below you can find a few of these benefits:

Types of yoga
All the yoga classes are based on the traditional Hatha yoga principles. Every class consists of a meditation part, breathing exercises and asana practice. Depending on your mood or preference you can choose one of the different classes below. The Energy & Renew class and the Sweat & Flow class are more dynamic and active classes where the biggest part of the class is focussed on the Yang side. Yang stands for dynamic and active movements, strengthening the muscles and deep breathing. In the Relax & Restore class you will find more balance between the Yin and Yang side of yoga. Yin yoga is more static, slow and it works more on the flexibility of the body by opening the underlying tissue.
Energize & Renew
During this class we will practice all different types of asanas (standing, seated, laying etc). Because we want to heat up the energy in our body we stay a bit longer in one pose. This typical Hatha class focusses on activating the energy channels in our body and cleansing the body from toxins. This class is perfect for beginners as well as advanced yogis because there is more time for a right execution and a better understanding of the different postures.
Sweat & Flow
The Sweat & Flow class consists of a sequence of active flowing movements. Very important for this practice is to involve and synchronize the breath with the flow of asanas (postures). The duration that we hold on to one pose is less long than in the other classes. Besides that the postures itself and movements can be a bit more challenging. It deeply stretches your muscles and build strength. The class is open to all levels, although if you are a beginner I would recommend you to first start with one of the other classes to get a better understanding of the asanas.
Relax & Restore
When you want to feel more relaxed and recharged after class, this class is the best option. During the Relax & Restore class the Yang and Yin side of yoga will be more in balance. Which means that active, dynamic movements will be combined with more static and slow movements to also really open the tissue in your body and to create more flexibility. During the Yin side of the practice we will stay longer in the postures and you will feel the importance of surrendering and letting go. You will probably not sweat as much as in the other classes, but your mind, body, and spirit will perform on a much deeper, more intense level, leaving you with a clearer mind, a lighter body, and a fuller heart. This class is open to all levels.
Most of the classes will be given at the beach. If you prefer to learn more about the yoga poses and how they should be done, or if you want a yoga class specified on your own needs then you can also book a private class.
